Some of our producers have these certifications, yes—but our uncertified coffees consistently exceed Fairtrade standards, and are often organic nonetheless. Certifications are expensive to obtain, especially for small and medium-sized producers, and dismissing a coffee simply because the farm can't afford certification goes against our core values. Our priority is therefore to understand the real conditions of cultivation and remuneration on the farm, whether they are certified or not.

Yes, our bags are certified compostable at home or in the factory. In home composting, they decompose more than 90% in less than 6 months. In a factory, with the right equipment, they decompose in less than 90 days. For comparison, a bag of the same type but made from regular plastic takes more than 1,000 years to fully decompose.

In Montreal, we deliver almost exclusively by bicycle. On the North Shore and South Shore, we generally deliver by electric vehicle. For all other regions where deliveries by bicycle or electric vehicle are impossible, we use traditional carriers, but we double-offset the emissions required for these deliveries. At the end of each year, we compile all of these types of deliveries, with the invaluable help of LCL environnement, and reimburse everything for a sustainable reforestation program in Northern Quebec.
